BEVAR 1000FRYD! (ENGLISH BELOW)

Vi har fået påbud fra kommunen om, at vi ikke længere må spille højt til koncerter - i praksis vil vi ikke længere kunne spille livemusik, hvilket er grundlaget for vores driftstøtte og eksistens.

Nabobygningen er opført med utilstrækkelig lydisolering, og under byggeriet advarede vi om, at det kunne føre til problemer, og det er nu gået i opfyldelse.

We have received a request from the municipality, stating that we can no longer play loud music at concerts - this means in practice that we can no longer play livemusic, which is the bedrock of our existence.

The neighboring apartments have bad sound isolation, which is something we warned about, when they constructed it.

We want to save 1000fryd, because it is full of history and it contributes greatly to the cultural life in Aalborg.

Rimer Ovo på avantgarde, mærkelig, kunst, impro, radikal, masker?
JA FOR FANDEN! Det er bare skråt op med dybere genreredegørelser, for de er allerede indkorpererede i Ovo's samlede bevidsthed - så godt, at de ved hvordan man slipper løs fra anmelderes fordømmende låse-fast-i-bås helvede.
- og værsgo! nu har I chancen for at (gen)se de herlige anarkister fra Italien. Sidst de var i huset var det sammen med impro jazz kvartettet ZU. Helt klart en aften vi alle, der var der, husker.
Italy’s Ovo are a two piece using guitar/violin cellos and drums that dump a toxic sludge with an unmistakable butterscotch scent. This sludge is in line with contemperous doom salesmen such as BORIS and the MELVINS, with the addition of vox stylings that take this record to a new place entirely. The sounds coming from Stephania Pedretti’s mouth as she sings go from lullaby sweet to terrifyingly raw in short intervals. Instrumentation on this platter is diverse, with guitars, bass, drums being added to the mix as well as music store stand-by’s like harmonica, piano, and cello.

Yderligere får vi æren af at se og høre OD DØDSPRINSEN fra København. Det er en vild omgang trippet punkrock. Ja, du hørte rigtigt! Punkrock på trip! Fuld blæs på euforien og galskaben. Af helvedes til gang-i-den! Det trippede og punkede PRIMAL SCREAM går i tråd med disse herrer!

SÅ Så så, mon ikke Ovo har et unikt show klar igen, hvor de ikke er bange for at bobbe rundt i cafeen og spille på hvadsomhelst, bare fordi alt er brugbart!!? For slet ikke at nævne den psykedeliske punkrock lige i nervesystemet fra OD Dødsprinsen! Smut forbi den blomstrende undergrundsscene på Kattesundet 10 til en uforglemmelig aften. Vi ses.

Fifth release of OvO's, after "Assassine" CD, "Vae Victis" MCD, the collaboration CD with Rollerball and the 3" one with KK Null, and an impressive, ongoing series of tours and performances... For the first time, Stefania (voice, guitar, violin, toys, hair - also in Allun) and Bruno (drums, guitar, bass, pedals - Bar La Muerte boss, and musician in Ronin, Daniele Brusaschetto band, etc.) stick to OvO's ideal line-up, i.e. a duo, with Bill Horist and Fabrizio Modenese Palumbo (Larsen, (r)) as discreet host guitarists in a couple of tracks. So, this time, no winds from Jacopo Andreini, no double-kicks from Capoccia, no additional insanity from the Rollerball tribe. These recordings are a kind of snapshot of their live playing, and a sum of their souls: no-wave (from early No New York to '90's Skin Graft area), noise-rock (Sonic Youth "Confusion is sex"-era in "Ombra nell'ombra"), hardcore-punk ("La saponatrice di Ferrara"), extreme metal, folk, electroacoustics (Stefania's bowed dreadlocks in "Efesto"), harsh noise ("Phiphenomena")... But don't think of a patchwork, as OvO eat and digest everything in their own peculiar style (yes, for once it's true, no one really sounds like them) and compose a sturdy, coherent album. This is a great quality indeed in a sea of redundant records: though caustic and unnerving in its nature, "Cicatrici" is a cd you can listen to in a row without getting bored, and then back again. Carnal, dark but also wickedly childish, OvO play some perfect disaster reports: the title, meaning "Scars", sounds as no joke. (4 / 5)

The music: oneiric ambiences, where candid intentions are mixed with distorted madness in form of industrial repetition and post industrial experimentation. Guitars and bass in industrial distortion that often choose a glorious repetition, a kind of tarred blackness in elastic elongation, sometimes the guitars and drums accelerate in search of a more primitiv rock or simply chaotic noise, but the most characteristic aspects of OVO are without doubt all the playful experimentation and those absurd voices, they can border on subnormality, but they are certainly creative, some experimental passages are almost autistic isolationism and there are some tracks at the end where there seems that the voices are done by a drugged monkey, but they are equally great, it is only that frequently this seems music done by the people you normally see in the corridor of a lunatic asylum. There is always a kind of DIY nature in the cd, sometimes it brings a very particular sound to the music of OVO, slightly home-made (maybe in some moments it can seem like it were not done seriously), but in a music that unically tries to be creative without having in mind any music market rule this is not necessarily a fault.
