🎞️ About the Movie:
In the war of 1948, hundreds of Palestinian villages were depopulated as part of the violent upheaval that shaped the modern Middle East. Israelis call it "The War of Independence." Palestinians call it "Nakba" — The Catastrophe. While these two narratives remain deeply divided, the events themselves are rarely examined together.
Tantura focuses on one such village, exploring the long-suppressed allegations of a massacre carried out by Israeli forces and the efforts to erase it from history. Through newly unearthed testimonies, forgotten recordings, and the memories of both victims and perpetrators, the film asks why the Nakba remains such a taboo subject in Israeli society — and what this silence reveals about history, memory, and national identity.
