❤️1000Fryd

Aalborg's legendary activity house and venue, 1000Fryd, is in danger of closing and needs your help! As a result of a neighbor's complaint, the house must undergo a massive renovation that costs several million, and 1000Fryd does not have that money.

For the past 40 years, the place has been of inestimable importance for Aalborg as a city and for many different underground music scenes, both nationally and internationally. All made possible by the hundreds of passionate volunteers who over the years have engaged in and developed with the place.

1000Fryd is more important than ever and will do everything to survive, but we need your support.

We welcome any contribution and are eternally grateful for your help.

If you want to donate directly to us, it can also be done via a contribution to our bank account on 1551-4930179574. Remember to write who the sender is.

Everyone who donates, regardless of the size of the amount, will get its name our big thank you list in the gate.

As the neon lights committed suicide. red cheeks met love supreme i grasped the shallow shades cup. typing letters scattered across the floor committing hearts and souls on tape. Realizing rewind is not possible. Normally I would not start a review - my first review for Indieworkshop.com even - with a sample lyric from the band, especially since it is the same example lyric that is printed on the info sheet I received along with the album. However, I find this to be a special circumstance. After reading this set of lyrics from Settlefish, I knew this band would be awesome. I read through all of the lyrics before putting the CD in the player. I was obsessed with this band before even hearing them. The disconnected lyrical imagery created by this band was phenomenal, and I almost did not want to put the CD in to find that my built up opes had been crushed. When I finally decided to listen to this album, entitled Dance a While, Upset, I was certainly not disappointed. Dance a While, Upset is the debut full-length release from Settlefish on the North Carolina label, Deep Elm Records. With their form of post-hardcore, they have definitely pushed the bar even higher for the Deep Elm crew, who have already released a bevy of excellent albums in 2003 (Brandtson, Red Animal War, Benton Falls, etc.). At times this band sounds like they could be mistaken for an At the Drive-In cover band. The moving drum lines and the urgent crunching dissonance of the guitars make this band a very interesting listen. The vocals are what make this band stand out, though. Jonathan Clancy has a rough voice unlike any other I have had the fortune of hearing. His unorthodox singing style is most readily seen in the second song on this album, Blindfold the Leaves. Behind a moving guitar and drum line, Clancy bobs back and forth between singing, talking and screaming for a breathtaking effect. I can honestly say that this is one of the best albums I have heard all year. This bands energetic take on music has put more faith in my belief in "emo," as Deep Elm likes to categorize it. This will be appearing in my top 20 of 2003 list, I can guarantee that, and will most likely even into my top ten. I would recommend this album to anyone, but especially to fans of At the Drive-In, Fugazi, and Red Animal War. Give this band a chance, and I can almost guarantee that they will not disappoint you."

og om Surrounded

"...Masters of the celestial epic, SURROUNDED creates atmospheres of fragile beauty by blending surrealist lyrics, mournful melodies, orchestral flourishes and spacey experimentalism with a subtle, cinematic sway from lo-fi to hi-fi. Encompassing a strangely beautiful rainbow of sound and emotion that twinkles beneath layers of cello, mellotron, radio chatter and synthesizers, their debut SAFETY IN NUMBERS envelops the listener with an entrancing collection of songs that range from the innocent to the insane, the troubled to the tender, the sweet to the sad. It's the sharp drumming, smart guitars and steady basslines that add just the right depth to each miniature symphony, helping to maintain focus on the band's rock foundations. A kindred spirit to The Flaming Lips, Sparklehorse and Mercury Rev, vocalist Marten Rydell pours his cryptic heart into each song, poignantly exploring the human condition through lyrical metaphors including kitten murders, plastic autocrats, brainwash mags, flattering clowns and crowds of apes. Remote industrial towns of the western world have long been regarded at the perfect soil for artistic breeding. Few bands epitomize this more accurately than Vaxjo, Sweden's SURROUNDED..."
