Hvad Los Dolares selv siger...
"...LOS DOLARES was formed on 1999 with Erickson, Juanmi, Pablo and Sergio, inspired on other diy anarcopunk bands like apatia-no and renuencia, that were using music as a tool for expresing ideas compromised with social change. We got involved with the CRA-AIT and El Libertario to organize the anti-World Bank / IMF Protest in Caracas on September 2000, called Plataforma 26S were we came with the idea of the name Los Dolares, then we started working together with the CRA, Apata-No, 11011 (rip) and Doa Maldad for setting up the Third and Fourth Anarchopunk Meetings, were we recorded our first live demo, an split tape with 11011 that was put out by ourselves, creating our own label called "Deskontento" (www.nodo50.org/deskontento). Later we recorded 10 songs for a tape called "la comodidad de ser esclavos nos condena a vivir en la eterna pasividad" wich was also edited on Peru by "PxLxAx" and on Chile by "SDTT Difusin Anarcopunk". After this we released our first 7" called "No hay camino hacia la autogestin, la autogestin es el camino" split with Doa Maldad.
Then we made our first south-american tour called "Lazos de Amistad y Resistencia" with El Troco from Doa Maldad playing the bass. We toured trough Colombia, Ecuador, Peru and Chile doing talkings about the anarchist movement in Venezuela and playing in anarchopunk meetings. After that we stayed in Chile were we came with the idea to put a 7" split with the great people from Sin Apoyo that helped us a lot, and we called this one "Contra esta guerra y contra esta paz". Then we made a second tour to go back to Caracas, were Fergu joined the band and we decided to move to Barcelona. Erickson joined apatia-no and magu joined los dolares. Right now we are working on the new Full Length album wich is called "Las venas abiertas de America Latina" based upon a book written by Eduardo Galeano, explaining how capitalism build an structure of exploitation over latin america that has been continued since colonization until our days. Soon we want to tour Europe sharing our experiences with other anarchist, explaining the situation in Venezuela and making some noise against the system!
