Formed in 2010, The Cosmic Dead are a quartet from Glasgow, Scotland who share their music through good vibes and better vibrations. Known for their improv, chaos strewn, Buckfast smashed against the wall take on space music, they have roamed from Roadburn to Las Vegas, Dundee to Bangalore with each album offering a meditative window into a certain time and space.
'Psych Is Dead' is the sixth full length album from the band, the glowing embers of a a few days spent recording in a sweaty Sardinian kitchen overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. Soon to be available on LP and CD via Riot Season Records, 'Psych Is Dead' is an aural exploration of their tumultuous universe.
"Like a careening, uncontainable torrent of Buckfast-powered kosmische chaos, whatever your feelings towards the Scottish quartet's synth-washed space-jams on record, their performance is something like having Ken Kesey and Spacemen 3 pour Irn-Bru directly into your third eye."
- The Quietus
"The Cosmic Dead may hail from Glasgow but their music sounds as if it were created in another universe altogether"
- Drowned in Sound
"A swirling, thudding vortex of sound"
- Echoes and Dust
Nothern Swedish space-psych band ADAMA comes equipped with a set of ideas that could seem long forgotten. In the aftermath of a post psychedelic wave of bands, ADAMA emerged with a longing to reach back to the very roots of what the genre symbolizes, but in accordance with modern day sounds. The band utilize their instruments in an epic, mind bending journey, allowing the listener to recall an intense feeling both new and old, fusing classical standards with a bombastic new soundscape pointing towards a new era.
Thus finding itself somehow beyond time and space, the ADAMA sound has a high level of natural-born-psych feeling to it - at the same time capturing both the burning essense of gloomy psychedelic darkness, and the intense kaleidoscopic colours of the northern lights!
Every aspect of the universe is build around repetition and circles, and what makes the whole thing alive and merciless is the imperfection and the unpredictability. Vulcan is an exploration of the element of randomness.
Inspired by natural disasters and phenomenons like volcanic eruptions, tsunamis, heavy blizzards, devastating rockfalls and supernovas, Vulcan explores the soul of nature and uses the element of impulsiveness when improvising over themes, images and feelings.
