On Friday evening we are warmly welcoming you to Synergia 2.0 with introductory remarks, a performative demonstration, and a participatory VR experience. Through the exhibition format, Synergia 2.0 can be experienced in two ways – as an audience member and as a participant. Throughout the evening, we will serve refreshments while we display the interaction with Synergia 2.0 live until 21:00.
Saturday/Sunday:
Interaction through booking only from 14:00 to 20:00. Participants are invited for a half an hour individual interaction with the VR system. MAKE SURE TO BOOK YOUR SPOT HERE:

// About the project //
Synergia 2.0 is an immersive interactive VR installation created by Oana Camelia and Maroš Pekárik. It investigates the state of cognitive flow through cross-modal interactions between body, sound, and visuals.
Real-time audio synthesis is continuously generated by body movements which influences, in turn, the audio-reactive virtual environment. In this translation of motion, position and posture into a divergent dimension of sound and visuals, the participants are invited to perform all the parts as a great whole – a synergistic composition.
Due to the COVID-19 situation, we are upholding all the restrictions against the virus by creating a setting with distance between the members of the audience, as well as maintaining a thorough hygiene and sanitizing the gear after each use. No more than 20 persons are allowed in the space of the exhibition.
Through the exhibition format, Synergia 2.0 can be experienced in two ways – as part of the audience and as a participant. Participants are invited for a half an hour individual interaction with the VR system.
In a technologically saturated modern society, the young generations are faced more and more with symptoms related to media addiction, scattered attention spans, social and emotional disorders, and physical symptoms of stress, among others. Therefore, as technology is becoming more and more prevalent in everyday life, researchers and artists are showing a growing interest in designing technologies that can improve mental and physical well-being.
The state of cognitive flow has shown to have positive effects on human well-being, the quality of experience and everyday performance. Synergia 2.0 investigates the state of cognitive flow in the context of virtual reality. The system is designed with high consideration to the qualities and triggers of flow, incorporating virtual reality, audio and visual feedback, movement, cross-modality, and creativity as design elements meant to facilitate this state. Through an artistic investigation of VR, Synergia 2.0 seeks to explore and understand positive psychological states in relationship to technology.
// About the artists //
Oana Camelia (b. 1998 in Republic of Moldova) is a visual artist focused on visual projections and graphic content, who has a Bachelor’s degree in Art and Technology. She has collaborated with various artists in Aalborg, Aarhus and Copenhagen for creating set-ups and mapping projections at events (e.g. Biosphere at Dome of Visions in Aarhus, November 2018; Festival of Endless Gratitude in Copenhagen, September 2018; fertilizer. festival at Studenterhuset in Aalborg, October 2019, among others). She is currently interested in further exploring digital media, developing interactive systems with focus on visuals, as well as visuals reactive to sound, and collaborating with other artists in multidisciplinary projects.
Maroš Pekárik (b. 1994 in Slovakia) is a technologist who passionately investigates unconventional means of developing projects in the artistic domain. He is interested in a close collaboration with artists mainly in performative settings to give birth to creative ideas with the help of technology. He is currently specializing in interactive installations, mixed reality performances and projection mapping. He has been closely collaborating with various artists and institutions in Aalborg, (e.g. Projekt Vækstlag 9000, Aalborg Symphony Orchestra and Musikkens Hus). After obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Art and Technology at Aalborg University in 2020 his focus is to be fully involved within the art scene in Aalborg.
The project was created in a multidisciplinary collaboration with sound artist Jens Bougay-Hugaard and computer scientist Miro Pakanec.
The project is helped along by Brolandingerne 2020, Unges Møde Med Kunsten and Nørresundby Boligselskab.
